If hospitals and clinics do not maintain a certain minimum level of hygiene,
it can lead to the spread of infection. The patient instead of being cured of
an illness will become even more sick.
In most hospitals, there is a lot of clutter with a large number of beds
fitting into a single bay. The rest of the space is filled by cabinets and shelves , making it difficult for the patient, medical staff
as well as visitors to move comfortably in the room.
In a cluttered area, the risk of falls, tripping and accidents is higher, which
could lead to injuries to the patient, hospital staff or even the visitor. At
times, these injuries can even be fatal. During medical emergencies like
cardiac arrests, it is important the equipment and medical staff can reach the
patient as quickly as possible. .
Though hospitals strive to maintain a certain level of hygiene so that
patients who have reduced immunity do not pickup additional infections, which
could prolong their stay in the hospital, it can be very difficult. A lot of
equipment like commodes, machinery such as ECG machines, crash trolleys, hoists are bought in and out of the patient area and it is
difficult to ensure that they do not carry any microbes.
